5th Grade Updates

Hi Everyone - a few quick things about things going on at Soleado and in 5th Grade:

Please return the voluntary class donation and the sheet that was with it to school as soon as possible. Please make sure to use the envelope that we sent home so the money gets back to our class treasurer (Jennifer Masuguchi).
These funds will allow us to start planning for our Halloween party.

The first Art At Your Fingertips Project is Friday, October 17 at 1:30 pm - (set up at 1:05) - any and all helping hands are welcome to help with our first project called "Rainforest Birds." THIS IS A MESSY PROJECT SO PLEASE HAVE STUDENTS DRESS ACCORDINGLY.

Please note that the Halloween Parade time is different this year - it is at 1:15 p.m. on 10/31 - more info to come on this from the Principal.

We are really hoping to get 100% participation in our class to join PTA this year and it's not too late! The class with the most participation will get a reward too. Please visit this link to become a member: www.memberplanet.com/s/soleadoelementaryschoolpta/2014-15soleadoptamembership

Character Counts Week is next week - PTA has a ton of great things planned for the students! Be sure to go to EDLINE, the Volunteer Blog or check those backpacks for information on this upcoming week and how the students can participate.

Looking to get some exercise and enjoy being with your friends and family while raising money?! Sign up to do the Skechers Walk! Click here to join the Soleado Team - http://www.skechersfriendshipwalk.com/site/TR/FriendshipWalk/General?team_id=4666&pg=team&fr_id=1070#.VDRJzeddC8W - we have a friendly competition with Vista Grande and the school with the most participation will get a visit from the opposing principal to sing the winning school song at the flag ceremony. We even have a sun costume for her to wear WHEN we win!! Please register today!! :) Everyone that participates will also be able to participate in a parent vs student kick ball game.

The theme for PTA's Reflections Projects this year is: "The World Would be a Better Place if...." submissions are due to to the box in the parent resource room on Friday, October 24. Entry forms are available on edline and a link will be in the Sunblast.

Java with Gina is this week - Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 9 am - our principal will be speaking about current things happening at Soleado along with a teacher talking about new academic programs. Watch your email for more information.

Soleado Movie night presented by the Booster Club is Friday, Oct. 24 - hope to see you there!

Before we launch our elementary STEM program, we have 288 VEX robotics kits that need to be sorted and assembled (no, they do not come that way). They take about 15-20 minutes EACH. This means we need volunteers! Rancho Vista is hosting a “Kit Building Party” this Wednesday, October 15th, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the MPR. If we can get FIVE volunteers from every site, we could knock this out in no time. The sooner we get this done, the sooner each school can get its kits and launch the STEM program. Here is the link to sign up for the “Kit Building Party”: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1t5iDnDBPgOj9jLe1I7onjcONU-mRCqGoIOPtkGBJ4_M/viewform It promises to be quite an evening! :)

Thanks! Jennifer Farrell& Catherine Lucas
